It's official...Josh left for Basic at 4:30 Monday morning. His flight left Phoenix on Tuesday at 9:05am. So the extra day on Monday was spent being debriefed and they put him up in a hotel (just 10 minutes from my house!)
He arrived at Ft Leonard Wood late yesterday afternoon. They told him he could make one phone call and he called me...I had my phone on vibrate and it was in my purse! I am still kicking myself and about to give back my mother of the year award! His voice mail assured me that he arrived safely and would call again when he could.
I imagine as I am typing this, he is being issued a uniform and a host of other fashionable Army apparel and accessories...plus he gets to march everywhere he goes...good cardio huh?
When I get his address, I will forward it along, most soldiers are really happy when they get mail from loved ones...I do so much electronic stuff I will have to re-train myself to the snail mail system...Ashley and I are going to start a cookie baking club soon for the three young men we know in the Armed Forces, Josh's best friends Trent and Jesse are currently in Afghanistan on deployment. We can't send anything to Josh while he is in Basic, in fact the phone calls will be few and far between...
